Ignorance and stupidity are, after all, the qualities of leadership we've come to expect.

Nothing has changed. The public has been told to believe the surge was a success; another "mission accomplished" with nothing to show for it.

We've come closer to war with Iran over a cheaply doctored military video of Iranian pea-shooter speedboats "threatening" the omnipotent US Navy in the Strait of Hormuz.

Unfortunately we no longer have a rational person like Admiral Fallon as a bufffer against that madness.

Onward through the fog, with unwavering certainty, the fools follow the crooks.Dave Dubyahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03279370558997246976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-134372208798387606.post-15857093932798666142008-03-22T17:28:00.000-04:002008-03-22T17:28:00.000-04:002008-03-22T17:28:00.000-04:00Hi Dave, enjoyed yours too, the journos deserved e...Hi Dave, enjoyed yours too, the journos deserved every barb of Colbert's (not surprising many gave him a bad review) possibly the greatest act of satire ever. Not least for being tragically true. There's an awful lot of Lord Haw Haws who need to be brought to account. Could it be the media is a little reluctant to admit their lapse?

Brother Tim,
Glad you liked the musical rant. It's a couple years old now, but still relevant.

Time,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes it was more media complicity than conspiracy. The majority support didn't happen without the media hype, though.

"The people weren't ready for the truth." This is still frighteningly true. And a despot's favorite tool.

Have you noticed how the "surge" has magically succeeded in the media, but not so much in Iraq?

Jim,
Isn't it amazing how one word, "so", from Cheney can make one's blood boil?Dave Dubyahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03279370558997246976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-134372208798387606.post-21665456604777816442008-03-19T19:06:00.000-04:002008-03-19T19:06:00.000-04:002008-03-19T19:06:00.000-04:00Wow Dave! Everyone of consequence seems to be complicit in this new order war mongering thin and it is sickening.
I just for the first time say that interview with that smiling wise ass Cheney. When told most Americans are against the war he just snickered and said So.
They never did and never will care what anyone thinks just as long as they get what they want and follow their war mongering.
I remember a couple years ago when the chief wise ass idiot said he'd rather listen to his dog. I doubt there was a conspiracy between the administration and the media to "sell" the war.

I have no doubt the media wanted to "sell" the war. They did it to curry favor (and get ratings) with the public, who at the time, were 80% in favor of the war. In fact the public's blood thirsty appetite allowed good people to be called traitors, and common sense to go out the window. If anyone was blowing with the public wind, it was the media.

Now that the public wind is blowing the other way, so is most of the media. Those in the media still promoting the war (and the administration talking points) are true Republican party hacks.

Like all other groups, the media will do what they perceive to be in their best interest. The people weren't ready for the truth, so the media didn't go find the truth.

As the anti-war movement grew in numbers, so did the investigative reporting on the truth, and the abuses of the war.Timehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09474837430855732529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-134372208798387606.post-73504856653349402982008-03-19T17:37:00.000-04:002008-03-19T17:37:00.000-04:002008-03-19T17:37:00.000-04:00The MSM is not our friend.
