All the tyrant needed was a complicit and corrupt Supreme Court to win again.
So, the tyrant appointed his judicial co-conspirators, lied about a rigged election, and incited an insurrection.
The honorable American tradition of peaceful transfer of power was terminated. The tyrant's violent criminal attempts to steal the 2020 election violated his oath to the Constitution. Under the rule of law he should have been prosecuted, punished, and never permitted into public office again.
The corrupt Justices abdicated their duty to the 14th Amendment in defense of their sponsor's insurrectionist crime spree.

With overwhelming supporting evidence, the Biden Justice Department rightfully indicted the tyrant for his numerous crimes.
Then the corrupt Justices fabricated the unconstitutional absurdity of "presidential immunity". The robed traitors endorsed the tyrant's power to politicize the Department of Justice into his personal weapon to persecute opponents, officials who pursued lawful convictions of his thugs, and even those who dared to disagree with him.
The honorable American ideal of "equal justice under law" was terminated. They may as well sandblast the antiquated inscription of those words from the portico of the Supreme Court building.
This enabled Americans to embrace the fascist criminal again in 2024.
America had lost its moral grounding. Finally the corrupt Justices stripped courts of their ability to wield checks and balances, and their judicial authority of injunction over illegal orders.
The legacy of the brazenly stolen and traitorous Roberts/McConnell/Trump court will rot in infamy as the most destructive in American history.
The end of the greatest experiment in representative democracy was sealed.

Let’s start with a little background information.
White attendees at a Trump tackled and beat a Black protestor. Trump approved of the attack, telling Fox News, “Maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”
In 2018, Trump praised then-US Rep. Greg
Gianforte for physically attacking a reporter who asked him questions on the
trail. “Any guy that can do a body slam, he is my type!" Trump joked at a
rally.
Following Trump’s orders on January 6, 2021, to “fight like hell and take your country back”, his mob of thugs stormed the Capitol, terrorized Congress, and beat cops bloody in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election. After watching their violence and mayhem for HOURS on TV, and realizing they failed in their mission, he finally told them to leave. In the same message he praised the thugs.
"I know you're in pain. I know you're hurt. We had an election that was stolen. It was a landslide. But you have to go home now...we love you, you're very special."
When the thugs and seditionists were finally locked up for their crimes, Trump would say they were “hostages, not prisoners”. His thugs were charged and convicted of their crimes.
He was also justly indicted with abundant evidence for his crimes, but the corrupt Supreme Court Justices in his pocket decided to protect him with the blatantly unconstitutional concept of “presidential immunity”. Finally, after winning in 2024 he pardoned ALL of his thugs.
Thus, Trump became the Godfather of 21st Century America’s political violence. Half the country and most of the world knows this vile authoritarian has no scruples, decency, or interest in following the law.
So, here we are in the second Trump presidency, America's first convicted criminal president and administration.
Masked ICE agents, many in civilian clothes, went on a spree of illegal abductions and mass deportations to gulags in Central America. Non-violent immigrants were sent to a prison in El Salvador, built to hold gang members and “terrorists”.
Trump next targeted Los Angeles, home of the largest immigrant population in the country.
Not waiting for a request by the California governor, he sent the military into Los Angeles in an unnecessary show of force. Governor Newsom and the mayor knew the local police had the situation in hand.
His illegal deportations without due process inspired the massive “No Kings” rallies attended by millions of Americans across the country. This was the largest protest in American history. And it scares Trump’s party of fascists.
When fascists are frightened, they viciously smear, threaten, and demonize opposition. They would take down and handcuff Democratic Senator Padilla.
This is what Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said about the California governor. “I'm not going to give you legal analysis on whether Gavin Newsom should be arrested, but he ought to be tarred and feathered.”
How "Christian" of him.
Early on the Saturday morning of the No Kings protests, a gunman tried to kill state Democratic Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their Minnesota home. Soon after, the same gunman shot and killed Democratic state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their nearby home. Their two children are now orphans.
They were killed for simply being pro-choice Democrats.
The so-called “pro-life Christian" nationalist murderer had preached: “God is going to raise up apostles and prophets in America to correct his church, and those that are connected to the body, they will come through this mess and they will be strong again. They don’t know how their sexual orientation, they’re confused. The enemy has gotten so far into their mind and their soul.” And, “God is going to raise up apostles and prophets in America to correct his church, and those that are connected to the body, they will come through this mess and they will be strong again”.
I’ll remind you of the type of regime that would ban abortion.

Let’s compare the reactions to the assassinations from a few politicians.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz asserted, “This cannot be the norm. It cannot be the way that we deal with our political differences. Melissa Hortman was the core of who our values were. It’s not about hatred. It’s not about mean tweets. It’s not about demeaning someone. It’s leading with grace and compassion and vision and compromise and decency.”
Contrast Walz's comment to what Trump said. “Well, it’s a terrible thing. I think he’s a terrible governor. I think he’s a grossly incompetent person. But I may, I may call him, I may call other people, too.” (This is why Mike Johnson's calling for Newsom to be tarred and feathered isn’t a problem for Trump.)
There's a photo of the killer's home-printed sheets of paper with "No Kings" on the back seat of his car, obviously intended to be a decoy to confuse investigators. So naturally Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno tried to pin the assassination on the “extreme left”. He wrote online, “The degree to which the extreme left has become radical, violent, and intolerant is both stunning and terrifying.” (Since when has the “extreme left” assassinated pro-choice Democrats? Never.)
This projection is how evil fascists like Nazis attack those they hate.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) also went full neo-Nazi with his sick justification of the killing, “This is what happens when Marxists don’t get their way.”
Of course, Democrats are NOT Marxists, but that has been the go-to fascist smear tactic since Hitler and Mussolini.
This despicable mindset of the radical right is not simply conspiracy theories and misinformation. It is their deliberate propaganda meant to demonize opposition their Felonious Fuhrer termed, “the enemy within”. The day after the murders Trump openly incited MORE VIOLENCE, saying Democrats "cheat in elections", are "sick of mind", and "hate our country".
Trump and his Republicans have transformed their party into America’s version of Nazism. Besides the selective persecution of Jews, ethnic groups, and the mentally ill, the main differences between the US and Nazi Germany is we have our educational institutions, (free?) press, (independent?) judiciary, and Democratic opposition, which all happen to be the primary targets of American fascists.
And it will get worse. IF we have fair elections in 2026 this fascist scourge can be attenuated. But it can only happen by overwhelming Democratic and independent voter turnout.

Trump's Reichstag moment is unfolding in Los Angeles, where he is baiting unrest and chaos over reckless ICE tactics. He had his openly bigoted fascist henchman Stephen Miller order quotas for ICE detentions and deportations, breaking their promise to prioritize arrests for violent criminals.
He WANTS riots and social unrest to justify his authoritarian crackdown on our former democratic republic. Those of us who try to be informed and rational have seen this coming. Those of us who read history understand this is fascism tightening its grip over the country.

Harriet Over, a researcher in psychology at the University of York, studies theories of dehumanization in cases of mass violence such as the Holocaust.
In his book Making Monsters: The Uncanny Power of Dehumanization, psychologist David Livingstone, the grandson of a German Jew and a professor at the University of New England in Maine, discusses the history of lynching in the United States.
“David [Livingstone] has written a careful study showing that Nazi propaganda contains references to Jews as nonhuman animals (for example, rats and parasites), as well as criminals, enemies, and traitors. He uses this evidence to argue that the Nazis perceived Jews as both human and subhuman at the same time and, thus, portrayed them as horrible monsters,” Over says. And, she adds, stripping them of their status as human beings helped facilitate the Holocaust.

By witnessing his constant lies, demonization, and authoritarian cruelty, the world knows Trump has become the real monster.
Tyrants tend to hate educators, journalists, scientists, college students, and artists for a reason. It's difficult for them to DICTATE and CONTROL their words, acts and purpose.
Foreign students who dare to condemn Netanyahu's brutality risk being imprisoned and deported for speaking their conscience. Foreigners' phones are being checked by Immigration officers for anti-trump messages.
Universities, law firms, news outlets, and networks are under attack from Trump, with several bending the knee to his blackmail and threats. This needs to stop NOW.
Actors and musicians are also regular targets for Trump, but they’re not as easily intimidated by the Fascist Felon. They're not as dependent on corporate sponsors and business connections, and have the independence of their professions to allow them to get under his orange skin.
Kudos to artists like Meryl Streep, Robert De Nero, Taylor Swift, and Bruce Springsteen for having the integrity and courage to speak out against the Criminal President.
If he is ever empowered to persecute and imprison them, he would most certainly do so. Thankfully, the US hasn’t entered this advanced stage of fascism at this point.
As if we need to learn yet another lesson from history, Harvard is showing America how to resist Trump’s fascism.
It’s past time for all corporate news media to take a similar stand.
Meanwhile artists are among the few who can publicly call out Trump without fear of retribution.
Before it was pulled for being too “political”, I responded to a thread in a music forum titled, “Please Artists, Leave your political BS at home”.
Yes, someone got upset at a concert where the performer actually expressed an opinion.
The person posted, "Not saying an artist, can’t have their opinions, but please I don’t need to hear it at your shows.”
Has he not heard John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance" or U2's "Sunday, Bloody Sunday", among countless other political songs? (Lennon's "Working Class Hero" and "Gimme Some Truth" are still my favorites.)
So, of course I had to toss in my two cents:
Generally,
the more a politician or leader attacks or suppresses artists, the more I side
with the artist.
Mercifully,
every country isn't like Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and other
dictatorships.
Free
expression is a core value of democracy and vital to freedom.
Politics
and aesthetics are part of the human experience.
If
it demonizes others and incites violence and bigotry, it's not really art or
politics. It's hate veiled as art and politics.
Some
people would hate John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Bruce, George Carlin
and even the Chicks, and others would detest Kid Rock and Ted Nugent for what
they say on stage.
We
are free to examine and judge what they say, and also free to reject or embrace
those beliefs.
We still have a First Amendment in the US, if we can keep it...
So, yes. Let artists voice their opinions. We can be grateful most of them aren’t as ignorant, hateful, and dishonest as Kid Rock and Ted Nugent.

I’m fed up with Republicans calling Democrats communists, and corporate media getting away with saying Democrats stand for nothing but “wokeness” and LGBTQ rights, and that they have no agenda.
Low approval ratings for the Democratic party in recent polls reflect the success of this massive partisan propaganda. We've learned Republican messaging through simplistic bumper sticker slogans will always be more effective than Democrats’ nuanced discussions of policy.
Democrats need to make more of an effort to communicate their policies and agenda to the public and to emphasize what they stand for and against. I have these few suggestions.
Democrats stand FOR Ukraine, and AGAINST Putin's war crimes.
Democrats stand against CRIMINALS in the White House.
Democrats stand AGAINST Trump, MAGA, racism, white nationalism, and "Project 2025".
Democrats stand for protecting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, public healthcare, public education, and other government services that are CONSTITUTIONAL provisions for the general welfare.
Democrats stand for CONSTITUTIONAL provision for the general welfare by environmental regulations that protect our land, water, and air from corporate pollution.
Democrats stand for government monitoring of banking and corporate crime and abuse of the public trust and for the enforcement of all CONSTITUTIONAL regulation of commerce.
Democrats stand for CONSTITUTIONAL taxes on corporations and the rich.
Democrats stand for an economy that works for EVERYONE.
Democrats stand for public funding of medical research in universities and for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Democrats stand for a FREE press.
Democrats stand for protecting VOTING RIGHTS.
Democrats
stand for reproductive RIGHTS for women.
Democrats stand for an independent judicial system and against politicized or personalized law enforcement.
Democrats stand for EQUAL JUSTICE under law.
In short, most Democrats stand for a multi-racial, democratic, representative government OF the people, NOT just powerful oligarchs, BY the people, NOT just the rich economic elites, and FOR the people, NOT artificial corporate entities.
Democrats should unite in calling out the Right’s agenda.
Along with POWER and tax cuts for the rich, MAGA stands for the glorification of Trump and his deranged idea of “making America great” by punishing and tormenting people, law firms, universities, civil servants, scientists, educators, and anyone else they hate.
As we are painfully seeing, Trump
and his followers seem to find difficulty in understanding what tariffs and due
process are.
While
not trying to denigrate them, I’ll explain the latter for their edification . (And for
Trump followers, denigrate means "to put down" and edification means "to be instructed.)
For the more curious, open-minded, and clever type of Trump supporters:
"Due process" is a Constitutional* guarantee that applies to all "persons", not just citizens. This includes illegal immigrants. The rule of law with due process is absent in fascist dictatorships and communist police states.
Only in a dictatorship can the criminal leader simply declare a person like Abrego Garcia a terrorist and gang member without showing evidence, (Due process) and then send him to a life sentence in a gulag. The Administration even admitted deporting him was a mistake. The unreliable police detective who accused Garcia of being a member of the gang MS-13 was suspended days later for leaking confidential information to a woman he was paying for sex. Not that Trump and his mob care.
And remember, without due process Trump can accuse anybody he doesn’t like of being, or doing, whatever he says he is, or did. It could be you or me next. Only the courts can stop him from this illegal autocratic behavior.
Now Garcia will need to move to a sane country to be safe from TRUMP and his legions of thugs. Yes, he now needs asylum from the Trump Gang.
KilmarAbrego Garcia is 29-year-old man from El Salvador who has been is married to a U.S. citizen and a father of three children. He was deported on March 15, 2025, from the United States in what the Trump administration called an "administrative error" and is currently in prison in El Salvador.
Garcia has never been convicted or charged with a crime and in 2019, a judge in Maryland granted him a "withholding of removal" status. That allowed him to legally work and live in the U.S. He was granted a work permit by the Department of Homeland Security and lived and worked in Maryland up until his deportation.
Now Trump is refusing to have Garcia released, even after the Supreme Court upheld an order to facilitate his return. This is also what a fascist dictator does.
Even US citizens are being illegally detained.
American born Twenty-year-old Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez was detained in a Florida jail even after his mother presented his birth certificate in court. Another American citizen, Nicole Micheroni was ordered to leave the country within seven days.

Let's have a look at the recent meeting between Trump and Bill Maher that has become such a hot topic. I instinctively avoided watching Maher's HBO show, knowing what I know about both men. It would have spoiled a perfectly good evening.
But transcripts work just as well for this discussion. Maher's remarks are in quotation marks. Mine follow in parenthesis.
“He’s much more self-aware than he lets on in public. Look, I get it. It doesn’t matter who he is at a private dinner with a comedian. It matters who he is on the world stage. I’m just taking as a positive that this person exists, because everything I’ve ever not liked about him was, I swear to God, absent.”
(“Self-aware”? What does that mean? He never stops thinking about himself? What wasn’t absent was Trump's manipulation of celebrities to get more attention.)
“At least on this night with this guy, Bob, Kid Rock told me the night before, he said, ‘If you want to get a word in edgewise, you’re going to have to cut him off. He’ll just go on.’ Not at all. I’ve had so many conversations with prominent people who are much less connected.”
(Much less connected to reality, decency, or humanity? Please.)
“People who don’t look you in the eye, people who don’t really listen because they just want to get to their next thing. People whose response to things you say just doesn’t track. Like what? None of that with him. And he mostly steered the conversation to, ‘What do you think about this’?”
(Ah, yes. So Maher was actually being interviewed on the Trump Show.)
“I know your mind is blown. So is mine.”
(Speak for yourself, Bill.)
“You can hate me for it, but I’m not a liar. Trump was gracious and measured. And why isn’t that in other settings, I don’t know, and I can’t answer and it’s not my place to answer. I’m just telling you what I saw, and I wasn’t high.”
(He was “gracious and measured” for reasons beyond Maher’s grasp.)
"I had supported him in the idea that Gaza could be Dubai."
(Yes, build those beachfront casinos. MAGA Lite Maher rarely, if ever, condemns Netanyahu’s brutality or Israeli demolition of Palestinian homes, and theft of their land.)
“I never felt like I had to walk on eggshells around him. And, honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump. That’s just how it went down. Make of it what you will.”
(OK. This is what I make of it. Clinton and Obama are much smarter than Maher. He’s more relaxed with someone closer to his level of intelligence.)
“I feel it’s emblematic of why the Democrats are so unpopular these days", Maher concludes.
(Maher conveniently ignores the real factor. Fascists are better at propaganda because they have no moral boundaries or regard for truth. Far Right propaganda networks have been more successful in deluding Americans with lies than traditional corporate media has been with reaching them with facts. Trump’s criminal behavior and attempts to overturn the 2020 election were sidelined by corporate media’s paucity of reporting lower inflation, their obsession with Biden’s age, and the usual horse race normalization of the 2024 election.)
Tyrants don't become tyrants without an ability to charm and dupe the most gullible, egotistical, resentful, and angry people who’ve been indoctrinated by their propaganda. Maher has fallen for the charms of a criminal sociopath and doesn't know it.
One
more point. Let’s not overlook the most obvious reason Maher jumped at the
opportunity to meet Trump. He wants MAGA viewers to boost his falling ratings.

There are far too many gullible and duped Americans who BELIEVE every word from Trump and other radical Right extremists is gospel. It's no coincidence that wrapping their dishonesty in religion has been an effective tactic in deception. It's also no coincidence they would think the rest of us are commies. They are so deeply INDOCTRINATED with those delusions that the True Believers will side with greedy oligarchs over everyone else, including their own best interests.
This has been the strategy of the radical Right economic elites since the rise of Hitler. Most Americans have no idea that antisemitic fascists like Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford HATED FDR and praised Hitler. Hitler’s American fans incessantly accused FDR and Democrats of being communists. It was perhaps their first Big Lie. Like today’s Republicans they were the usual mix of white racists and sociopathic greedheads.
Today the vast radical Right media empire has succeeded spectacularly in indoctrinated semi-literate, low-information dupes who can’t even attempt critical thinking. They’re the sort who’ve been conned into thinking social justice, critical race theory, Social Security, Medicare, food stamps, and other public services are communism and even critical thinking is “Marxist".
Now the fascist elites are empowered to eliminate all the "Marxist" agencies and programs of the US Government that are clearly supported by OUR CONSTITUTION. Social services and public health and education are demonized by the fascist elites because they have no use for them. And they have no empathy or concern for the millions of Americans who need them.
How dare a constitutional government try to have power over the rich?
Taxes? Check.
Regulation of commerce? Check.
Provision for the general welfare? Check.
Wow. The founders were such commies, amirite? That’s all gotta go. Trump and Musk know best.
So, what's NOT in the US Constitution?
"Presidential immunity" isn't there. Neither is a provision for an unelected oligarch billionaire to recklessly shut down agencies on his own whims.
Impeachment is in the Constitution. But Mitch McConell and his party refused to convict Trump for his criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.
Then six highly partisan and corrupt Supreme Court Justices bent their knees to protect the CRIMINAL President Trump from accountability. America’s descent into fascism and ruin is now entirely on them.
Their bottom line is clearly visible to anyone who looks.
All of the hate, lies, misery, division of our people, and senseless cruel destruction of our government and federal jobs is deliberately inflicted by unpatriotic rich assholes so they can wield power over our government and to grift and reap its largesse without having to pay taxes.
Screw public employees. Screw the unemployed. Screw the poor, Screw the hungry. Screw the sick. And screw the middle class. Screw our allies. And screw America. Trump’s Republican Party is imposing their version of Putinism in America. He is their role model.
They are actively and successfully corrupting, rigging, and destroying the system to perpetuate their dictatorship. And we are frighteningly close to the tipping point, if not already past it.

It’s understood by now that the only necessary “qualification” for a job with the Trump Mob is loyalty. As with every dictator, Trump’s authoritarian rule has always favored loyalty over merit. Devotion to the leader is essential, while competence is secondary, if even a factor at all.
Let’s set the scene of this recent case of gross incompetence with a sneering arrogant boast from the embarrassingly unfit Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. “Under the previous administration, we looked like fools. Not anymore.”
That’s the kind of loyalty to Trump that got him the job.
Then this story by editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic broke:
“The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans”
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.
The world found out shortly before 2 p.m. eastern time on March 15 that the United States was bombing Houthi targets across Yemen.
I, however, knew two hours before the first bombs exploded that the attack might be coming. The reason I knew this is that Pete Hegseth, the secretary of defense, had texted me the war plan at 11:44 a.m. The plan included precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing.
This
is going to require some explaining.
And someone needs to be held accountable
When a reporter questioned Trump about the security breach he responded, “I don’t know anything about it.” (Yeah, right.) And like any fascist would do he demeaned the source of the story.
After another reporter asked Hegseth about his security breach, It was his turn to do what all fascists would do. He deflected and attacked the journalist. “You’re talking about a deceitful highly discredited, so-called journalist who’s made a profession of pedaling hoaxes time and time again..” unironically wailed the former FOX (R) TV personality and well known wife abusing alcoholic. He lied, “Nobody was texting war plans.” (Yeah, right. Just precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing.)
The reporter should have followed up with, "Oh, so it's OK with you for us publish the entire text. Thank you."
Of course, the patriotic and respected journalist responsibly withheld the most secret information knowing the risk to our deployed military personnel.
During questions by Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee two participants on the group chat denied there was classified content. But, alas, poor Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director Ratcliffe both developed a sudden onset of severe memory impairment.
In addition, it appears another member of the group chat was Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, listening in from Moscow! Isn't that precious?
We do have to wonder about the extent of this gross negligence by Trump’s mob that was hired out of loyalty over merit and qualifications. There can be no doubt foreign powers are listening in on these arrogant incompetents. And there’s also no doubt that other countries will stop sharing intelligence with the US because allies know this country cannot be trusted with Trump in power.
Trump is serving the interests of the Kremlin, Peking and Pyongyang over Western democracies, the American people and the Constitution.
Russian state TV host Vladimir Solovyov and head of RT Margarita Simonyan rejoiced over Trump's cabinet picks. They were especially thrilled about Kash Patel and Pete Hegseth, predicting, "They will quickly dismantle America, brick by brick."
This was before Musk started vandalizing the executive branch and terrorizing federal employees. Russians absolutely delight in this destruction of the US Government and pitting of our people against each other, as Trump helps make Russia great again.
But Trump’s angry lush and toady Hegseth blew it. He needs to go.
While we can worry a lot about security breaches from Trump’s cabinet buffoons, I’m pretty sure Putin still gets anything he wants straight from Trump.
And
now unlike with the previous administration, we REALLY look like fools.

Presto! An autocrat placed above the law by a corrupt Supreme Court takes the obvious next step to dictatorship, a "legally" unaccountable force of thugs in uniform. Adding further desecration of the rule of law by his fascist regime he's now openly defying court orders.
We must all love our Biggest Brother or face the consequences. Recall the way Trump would withhold covid equipment from states whose governors failed to publicly praise him.
And more recently at the White House Governors' Conference, Maine Governor Janet Mills referred to Trump's criticism of state policies concerning transgender athletes with, "I'll see you in court".
In response, the dictator demanded submission. "We need a full-throated apology from the Governor herself, and a statement that she will never make such an unlawful challenge to the Federal Government again".
For its "offense" by not harshly punishing anti-Netanyahu protestors adequately Columbia University is submitting its autonomy under Trump's jackboot. After being threatened by Trump the Paul Weisse Law Firm capitulated into serving him.
Watch
for this kind of intimidation and punishment to be regularly inflicted upon
businesses, agencies, universities, governors, and states who fail the fealty
test.

I sincerely hope the human species can survive its tendency to revert to Dark Age beliefs and manages to evolve beyond our gullible tendency to believe in narcissistic and charismatic white nationalist demagogues who disparage science, empathy, and education.
Tragically the human species is far easier to manipulate through fear-mongering lies than by facts and reason. And this is exactly how the vast radical Right media machine is winning the propaganda war. The lying and hateful authoritarian voice of MAGA is at war with our free press and has shut down the democracy-promoting Voice of America, literally and figuratively.
Inevitable and widespread misery may be the only turning point for this country.

the unlikely rapid expansion in the evolution of human conscience and
consciousness can really help us, I'm afraid.
Elon Musk sent an outrageous, degrading, disturbing, and ominous email to
federal employees with the subject line, “What did you do last week?”
“Please
reply to this email with approx. 5 bullets of what you accomplished last week
and cc: your manager. Please do not send any classified information, links, or
attachments. Deadline is Monday at 11:59pmEST.”
Intimidation and the threat of termination are clearly the intent of this cruel tactic. Thousands of federal employees have already been fired or are under the threat of being fired without just cause or recourse.
No doubt thousands of Trump supporters voted themselves out of jobs. I find it rather more difficult to pity them, than to sympathize with the other victims who had the good sense to not vote for Trump.
I’m
lucky to not be in their position. And it’s a good thing because my response to
this unprecedented and unjustified demand would be something like this:
Attn Mr. Co-dictator, Supreme Chancellor, Oligarch Overseer, Prefect of Political Purges and Purification, (or whatever title you hold,) Musk,
Thank you for your interest in my profession.
Since you are not my supervisor, and you may very likely not be qualified to evaluate my job performance, would you please forward me your resume summarizing your expertise in my field?
It is apparent you do not fully understand my duties, nor do you adequately comprehend the nature of yours.
After reviewing the list of those you have fired, it has become clear that you have negatively impacted our Constitutional provisions for the general welfare and common defense.
You fired 400 maintenance and other technicians within the Federal Aviation Administration, the essential agency that assures aviation safety for the American people. This action, along with similarly misconceived politicized dismissals at the Center for Disease Control, Department of Education, and National Institutes of Health, directly undermine important Constitutional provisions for the general welfare of the American people.
Summarily firing vital staff at the National Nuclear Security Administration was an impulsive and ill-considered measure that weakened of our common defense.
Slashing the employees at the IRS interferes with our Constitutional taxation and reduces vital revenues that sustain government services for the people of the United States. Many of us see it as no coincidence that this also makes it far easier for the economic elites to cheat the rest of us by not paying their fair share of taxes.
How many millions of our tax dollars go to you again, Mr. Musk?
And who would profit by dismantling the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that has returned $20 billion to the American consumer? Wouldn't that be the Wall Street banks and tech billionaires like you moving into financial services, Mr. Musk? But we're supposed to trust your judgement whether there is a conflict of interest, so it's all fine.
While you demand accountability from everyone but Trump and his loyal cronies, you fired Inspectors General who identified $183.5 billion in waste, fraud, and abuse, only to mistake $8 million for $8 billion.
In considering your lack of foresight, callous negligence, and egregious lapses of judgment, it would be incumbent upon any reasonable and honest American to question your patriotism, qualifications and competence, sir.
If it were up to me, I’d have to say, “Mr. Musk, you and your inept, unvetted, and unqualified geek squad are FIRED!”

Recently I was talking to a friend about the state of our country and mentioned, "America is becoming a monster that devours itself".
It’s taken almost 250 years, but the radical Right fascists have succeeded.
The Republicans have brewed their perfect storm to destroy a republic of, by and for the people. It took some time, but their fascist oligarchy is here now, and the destruction will be devastating and lasting.
Their slow-moving coup was facilitated from the beginning by the founders' antiquated and antidemocratic Electoral College and Senate. Those bastions of inequality should have been removed when slavery was abolished. Instead, they allowed the road to fascism to be paved by the "Reagan Revolution" that let the corporate foxes into the regulatory henhouse. They installed into our government shills who stood diametrically opposed to Constitutional taxation, regulation of commerce, and provision for the general welfare
The radical Right needed to establish a propaganda network to con the public into believing they worked for the working class. Enter Murdoch's FOX(R) and Limbaugh to drive home their divide and conquer strategy. They would dupe millions of poorly educated and semi-literate Americans with their hate and lies.
Next, they needed to fill the courts with partisan ideologues who would do their bidding. This is how the 2000 election was handed to Bush, the first audible death knell to democracy. That president went on to wage a war based on lies, only to be reelected. The country was proving itself to be easily misled by the radical Right. The next ominous red flag was when, for the first time in memory, rights were curtailed for women.
The time had come for Trump’s Big Lie and crime spree.
From there on the road to fascism was paved by Mitch McConnell's refusal to convict Trump in his J6 impeachment trial and his treacherous theft of the Supreme Court, packing it with a MAGA majority willing to immunize Trump from justice and deny the 14th Amendment's protection against insurrectionists.
But they still needed a weak and divided opposition, which Joe Biden gave them by breaking his promise to not run for reelection. Dropping out after his weak debate only added to the appearance of the party's disarray.
The corporate media's failure to focus on Trump's crimes just to keep their "horse race" ratings up was the final nail in democracy’s coffin. Now they are quickly falling in line to escape Trump’s wrath and retribution.
Already Google has removed Gulf of Mexico from their maps and replaced it with Trump’s decreed Gulf of America. What’s next? The “East American Ocean” and the “West American Ocean” instead of the Atlantic and Pacific?
It shouldn’t be surprising that corporate entities instantly fail historian Timothy Snyder’s first lesson on tyranny. “Don’t obey in advance”.
Trump’s autocratic oligarchy has taken power and is actively dismantling any governing authority that regulates banks and corporations. It has shut down America’s best foreign relations agency USAID. They’d rather see food rot and medicine expire than send to the poor people most in need.
Greed, hate, power, cruelty, and dominance are their only values. They take joy in inflicting suffering in the people they hate. They will demonize and scapegoat minorities and the powerless. The unelected autocratic oligarch Elon Musk declared USAID is a "criminal organization" without evidence. Trump accused the employees of being "radical leftists".
And here we see the ugly true nature of fascists. They will always seek to scapegoat and punish anyone they hate, including all who oppose or even inconveniences them. Under a convicted felon in the White House the Justice Department and FBI are being purged of competent lawyers and agents who upheld their oath to defend our Constitution and rule of law by investigating the serial criminal president.
Tyrants value and demand loyalty to the leader. They resent and scorn an impartial judiciary. This is why Trump installed radical right loyalists into the Supreme Court who would advance his political agenda and even grant him blatantly unconstitutional immunity from the law. The noble ideal in the words "Equal Justice Under Law" over the entrance to the Supreme Court no longer applies in the United States.
Along with equal justice, Trump and his loyalists have also terminated America's tradition of peaceful transfer of power.
It's always dictatorship over democracy for radical right authoritarians. They want to rule, not govern. Having no conscience, cruelty always trumps compassion.
Under their rule they are endangering the health of Americans by muzzling and dismantling the CDC and NIH. Human suffering and death means nothing to these sociopaths.
Provision for the general welfare be damned. Corporate welfare and a police state will be all that remains of a federal government that was once intended to be of, by, and for the people. These days white (un)Christian nationalists are the only "real Americans".
“We
the people” no longer matter. It’s now all about “We the wealthy elites and
Trump loyalists” fleecing and subjugating Americans in a deliberately and systematically demolished republic.
