Tonight's Debate

Trump's pattern of constant projection tells me HE will be medicated tonight. He whined that Biden will need a "shot in the ass" for tonight's debate.

This makes it likely that Trump will be the one getting the shot in the ass. And he makes it certain that I will be having a shot in the glass.

My Debate Predictions:

There will be no handshake.

Trump will LIE. (Duh!)

Trump will rant about "Marxist, radical left, Communist Democrats".

Trump will say, "fake news", "rigged" and "not fair".

Trump will attack the moderators.

Trump will leave the podium and aggressively approach Biden.

Trump will interrupt Biden.

Trump will yell while his mic is muted.

50/50: Trump will walk out.

Personally, and i say this with almost certainty, i think Trump's strategy will be to get under the moderator's skin repeatedly so they shut his mike off giving another "victim" shtick to add to his library of victimhood allegations.

Trump is a man with the emotional maturity of a three year old. A 77 year old felon with the mentality of a 12 year old and the emotional maturity of a toddler.

Les,
You're correct on all of your points, except he's 78 now. I don't think he'll bring up age with only a 3 year difference.

He can't help but be what he is. An asshole.

Fellow, you were wrong on all your predictions.

Your hate is showing, Trump beat Joe's ass.

Dave Dubya said...

Anonymous.

Your projection is showing. I said nothing hateful. They were just predictions.

And YOU are wrong. I was not wrong on all my predictions.

I correctly predicted there would be no handshake, Trump would LIE. (Duh!), and Trump would say, "rigged".

Dear Dems: We Told You So, We Told You So, and We Told You So Some More!!!

Where is your cheap fake now?

Trump, true to his basic nature, told a whooping THIRTY bald faced lies in 90 minutes. He won nothing. Other than to once again, as he always does, confirm that he is a pathological liar without so much as thread of a vision for America and even less on how to get there.

The Man child Trump has nothing at all positive to offer. NOTHING!

Dave Dubya said...

Les,
As expected, Donald "I did not have sex with a porn star" Trump was a total asshole and liar. He completely IGNORED two questions that the moderators had to REPEAT for him. In a real debate, where the words matter more than appearance, that would have meant Biden was the winner.

Also as expected, Biden looked and sounded old.

The public has to decide how to judge it.

Either "Trump won because he lied LOUDER and Biden looked and sounded old", or "Biden won because he addressed ALL the moderators questions with facts, and called out Trump for his lies and insurrection".

This needs to be repeated far and wide:

The Democrats are running a guy with a proven excellent record and one bad debate performance.

Here is the truth.

RUTH BEN-GHIAT

A "Debate" That Reveals our Surreal Situation. Performance Matters More than Being a Criminal

Creeping authoritarianism and an addiction to strongman glamour are degrading our democracy. Performance on stage matters more than being a criminal...All of this is why I have emphasized Trump’s immense skills as a propagandist. He has repeated the same lies for years now, and they have been absorbed as fact. Studies about propaganda are clear on this point: When lies are repeated enough, they become familiar and then are accepted as reality...So let’s be clear about the nature of this “debate.” It was a chance for Trump to spread his lies, and he did with vigor.

Tweets:

One day people will wake up to the magnitude of Trump's achievements as a propagandist. Propaganda requires repetition and Trump has wormed his way into people's heads by repeating the same lies for years. He's been so effective that people don't even call them lies anymore: for the NYT front page, it is "bluster."

If truth matters, Biden won the debate. Trump lied with flair so he "won." Folks, this is a symptom of a deeply degraded politics. Creeping authoritarianism has hollowed out the old political rituals until they are useless.

There cannot be a debate as is traditionally understood because the two candidates live in different worlds politically. This is about opposing political systems, not parties.

One is an autocrat who depends on lying and seeks to indoctrinate the public so they will accept him having absolute power. The other is a democrat who accepts limitation on his power and believes that debates are about informing the public.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO doubt in my mind that the Communist-in-Chief, former President Barack Hussein Obama, was the single individual who initiated the disastrous decline in America with his Marxist revolutionary agenda and the implementation of racial and intersectional division of the American people., AND WHO IS THE PUPPET PULLING THE STRINGS of the Current NUMB-NUTS JOSEPH ROBINETTE BIDEN!

Barrack Hassan Obama was the one that oversaw the weaponization of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies that openly spied on Americans, mounted a covert attack on a presidential candidate, Donald Trump, and orchestrated the clandestine resistance to Trump’s presidential agenda.
He was knowingly complicit in the illegal machinations of Vice President Joseph Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Only one person can confront Joe Biden and convince him to drop out of the presidential race, and that person is Barack Obama who still draws the adoring crowds of Democrats wherever he goes. He’s the most popular living Democrat at this time , and despite rumors of friction between the former president and Barrack Obama, Biden still respects and admires his former boss Barrack. . Obama is said to call Biden frequently to discuss politics and policy.

If any Democrat could metaphorically grab the delusional Joey Biden by the shoulders and shake him until he emerges from his Dream, or should I say “Fantasy” that the race is still winnable, it’s Barack Obama. Other than doing that, this election race is OVER!
Unfortunately, the Progressive Communist Democrats decided to run this “ Pathetic Sock-Puppet” this “Manchurian Candidate” so that Obama could rule from behind using his malicious Sock Puppet as surrogates, choosing another nonthreatening intersectional Vice Presidential choice like Kamala Harris. But that might be going to far in the wrong direction. But if Biden would decide to either step down or can't continue, then with the 25th Amendment Kamala becomes President and runs for President in November. If they go brokered convention, then Biden has to release his delegates and then the delegates can vote for whoever they want. Those are the only two options the Democrats have. And come to think of it, that might be EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE UP TO NOW. And that might explain the disastrous performance given at the debate

After last night’s presidential debate, CNN’s Daniel Dale fact-checked the numerous false claims made by President Joe Biden during his face-off with former President Donald Trump. The CNN employee did not hold back as he dissected Biden’s statements, revealing a series of inaccuracies.

Sal,
Thanks for the laughs.

There is NO DOUBT in any sane and informed mind that your are an ignorant, paranoid, deluded, babbling racist.

You're in a cult that is indoctrinated to BELIEVE without evidence Democrats are communists. Obviously you have NO idea what communism is.

A communist advocates the abolition of private property and government ownership of all manufacturing, agriculture, production and distribution. A communist government, like a fascist government, is ONE-PARTY rule, which is exactly what you fanatic neo-Nazis want with a criminal like Trump as a dictator to rule with immunity and above the law.

Your fear, blame, anger, and hatred for the Black FORMER president shows your racism runs deep. You have NO idea Obama left Trump a prospering economy, more Americans with health insurance, AND with a falling unemployment rate. If this is what you call a "Marxist revolutionary agenda" you are a pathetic idiot. Sorry to be so blunt, but someone has to tell you the truth and the facts. You won't hear it from Trump and his ass-kissing media sycophants.

Every word from Trump is your gospel. That requires no brain, son. That's cult worship and gullibility.

Anonymous,
There's no doubt some of Biden's stats were incorrect. He was still far more honest and factual than Trump the convicted felon was.

Biden said, "By the way, the Border Patrol endorsed me, endorsed my position".

Context:
The first part was incorrect, but he corrected himself with "endorsed my position", which was the border bill he supported that Trump killed.

Notice how CNN will fact check Biden, and how pro-Trump outlets NEVER fact check Trump.

What does that tell you?

Dave Dubya said...

I've allowed Anonymous two posts. No more.

This is the hilarious and delusional drivel he's spewing:

"And CNN is now pro Trump? Talk about grasping for straws, or maybe Trump (unlike Biden) didn't require fact checking, ever think of that?"

"Trump didn't require fact checking." LOL!

No, Anonymous. I'm not in your cult. Trump's words are not gospel. Trump is a convicted felon, sociopath, and pathological liar.

Pick a name if you want to participate further.

Heather Cox Richardson points out just a few of Trump's wild lies and false accusations:

https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/june-27-2024

...Trump lied and rambled incoherently, ignored questions to say whatever he wanted; refused to acknowledge the events of January 6, 2021; and refused to commit to accepting the result of the 2024 presidential election, finally saying he would accept it only if it met his standards for fairness.

...He lied so incessantly throughout the evening that it took CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale almost three minutes, speaking quickly, to get through the list.

Trump said that some Democratic states allow people to execute babies after they’re born and that every legal scholar wanted Roe v. Wade overturned—both fantastical lies. He said that the deficit is at its highest level ever and that the U.S. trade deficit is at its highest ever: both of those things happened during his administration. He lied that there were no terrorist attacks during his presidency; there were many. He said that Biden wants to quadruple people’s taxes—this is “pure fiction,” according to Dale—and lied that his tax cuts paid for themselves; they have, in fact, added trillions of dollars to the national debt.

...He was off by millions when he talked about how many migrants have crossed the border under Biden, and falsely claimed that some of Biden’s policies—like funding historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and reducing the price of insulin to $35 a month—were his own accomplishments.

There is no point in going on, because virtually everything he said was a lie. As Jake Lahut of the Daily Beast recorded, he also was all over the map. “On January 6,” Trump said, “we had a great border.” To explain how he would combat opioid addiction, he veered off into talking points about immigration and said his administration “bought the best dog.” He boasted about acing a cognitive test and that he had just recently won two golf club tournaments without mentioning that they were at his own golf courses. “To do that, you have to be quite smart and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way,” he said. “I can do it.”

As Lahut recorded, Trump said this: “Clean water and air. We had it. We had the H2O best numbers ever, and we were using all forms of energy during my 4 years. Best environmental numbers ever, they gave me the statistic [sic.] before I walked on stage actually.”

Trump also directly accused Biden of his own failings and claimed Biden’s own strengths, saying, for example, that Biden, who has enacted the most sweeping legislation of any president since at least Lyndon Johnson, couldn’t get anything done while he, who accomplished only tax cuts, was more effective. He responded to the calling out of his own criminal convictions by saying that Biden “could be a convicted felon,” and falsely stating: “This man is a criminal.” And, repeatedly, Trump called America a “failing nation” and described it as a hellscape.

It went on and on, and that was the point. This was not a debate. It was Trump using a technique that actually has a formal name, the Gish gallop, although I suspect he comes by it naturally. It’s a rhetorical technique in which someone throws out a fast string of lies, non-sequiturs, and specious arguments, so many that it is impossible to fact-check or rebut them in the amount of time it took to say them. Trying to figure out how to respond makes the opponent look confused, because they don’t know where to start grappling with the flood that has just hit them.

It is a form of gaslighting, and it is especially effective on someone with a stutter, as Biden has.

...Of far more lasting importance than this one night is the clear evidence that stage performance has trumped substance in political coverage in our era. Nine years after Trump launched his first campaign, the media continues to let him call the shots.

Biden aides ADMIT he’s only coherent for a FEW hours each day. Axios is reporting that White House aides are now admitting why they only schedule things for Biden a few hours each day. Time and time again it's been seen the White House call a lid on Biden very early in the day and now they are admitting that it’s because Biden is only good from about 10am to 4pm. Before or after that his body and mind just aren’t dependable.

Does this explain Joe's debate performance?

Dave Dubya said...

Howdy, Vern.

Trump is a performer. Biden isn't. If we look at their actual words, Trump told many more lies and made false accusations. Biden stated some inaccuracies but he discussed policy while Trump ranted his usual resentments and BS.

Biden is old. Not news. He was never among my first preferences for president, and I think he should have served one term.

I don't like the choices but here we are. It's Biden or a dictator-loving, malevolent pathological liar and convicted felon. We know you can't admit any fault in Trump because you are in a cult that worships his every word as gospel.

One difference between Biden and Trump is Biden recognizes realty.

"I don't walk as easy as I used to, I don't speak as smoothly as I used to, I don't debate as well as I used to," he said to roars from the crowd in Raleigh, N.C. "But I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to do this job, I know how to get things done."

And don't try to lie to me.

"Biden aides ADMIT he’s only coherent for a FEW hours each day."

You pulled that from where the sun doesn't shine.

No wonder you HATE to cite real quotes from sources.

I'll show you how it's done.

From Axios:

From 10am to 4pm, Biden is dependably engaged — and many of his public events in front of cameras are held within those hours.
Outside of that time range or while traveling abroad, Biden is more likely to have verbal miscues and become fatigued, aides told Axios.

Speaking of Axios:

They took a look at Trump's daily schedule. It wasn't that far off from Biden's.

https://www.axios.com/2018/01/07/scoop-trumps-secret-shrinking-schedule-1515364904

Scoop: Trump's secret, shrinking schedule

President Trump is starting his official day much later than he did in the early days of his presidency, often around 11am, and holding far fewer meetings, according to copies of his private schedule shown to Axios. This is largely to meet Trump’s demands for more “Executive Time,” which almost always means TV and Twitter time alone in the residence, officials tell us.

The schedule says Trump has "Executive Time" in the Oval Office every day from 8am to 11am, but the reality is he spends that time in his residence, watching TV, making phone calls and tweeting.

Trump comes down for his first meeting of the day, which is often an intelligence briefing, at 11am...Trump's days in the Oval Office are relatively short – from around 11am to 6pm, then he's back to the residence.

Also from Axios:

https://www.axios.com/2024/06/01/poll-trump-conviction-election-independent-voters

54% of registered voters "strongly" or "somewhat" approve of the guilty verdict compared to 34% who "strongly or "somewhat" disapprove.

49% of Independents and 15% of Republicans said Trump should end his campaign because of the conviction.

The Washington Post took a stab at fact-checking.

Fact-checking the first Biden-Trump 2024 presidential debate

We will leave to the pundits the question about whether President Biden or former president Donald Trump won the first presidential debate, but in the battle over facts, there was no contest. We examined a total of 35 claims — and five were made by Biden and 31 by Trump. (In one instance, they both falsely said Trump passed the biggest tax cut in history.)
Here’s a selection of the lowlights.

• “All he said was is [it’s] not that serious, to inject a little bleach in your arm.” — Biden. (Trump did not say people should inject bleach in their arm. Instead, at a pandemic briefing in 2020 he spoke confusingly of an “injection inside” of lungs with a disinfectant.)
• “I’d love to ask him why he allowed millions of people to come in here from prisons, jails and mental institutions to come into our country and destroy our country.” — Trump. (False, there is no evidence that countries are emptying such facilities and shipping migrants to the United States.)
• “You’re in a situation where there are 40 percent fewer people coming across the border legally. That’s better than when he left office.” — Biden. (He’s misleadingly referring to a recent development relating to an executive action; migrant numbers are still higher than they were under Trump.)
• “We had the safest border in history in that final couple of months of my presidency.”—Trump. (False, the number of apprehensions was lower under Obama.)
• “I offered her [then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi] 10,000 soldiers or National Guard [on Jan. 6], and she turned them down.” — Trump. (False, this never happened.)
• “It could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people [undocumented immigrants].”—Trump. (This is four times higher than most estimates.)
• “What he’s done to the Black population is horrible, including the fact that for ten years he called them superpredators.”—Trump. (He’s mixing Biden up with Hillary Clinton, his 2016 opponent.)
• “He wants to raise everybody’s taxes by four times.” — Trump. (False. Biden has pledged not to raise taxes on 98 percent of taxpayers.)

Just...

1. Biden IS fine. He's old, not senile. Do I believe he will live four more years and be able to effectively act as president? Nope. But neither do I believe Trump will. SO what should we do?

2. I don't think I've ever claimed or seen anyone else claim the Biden Laptop Affair was a Russian Disinfo campaign. Maybe I missed that line of attack.

3. Russia colluded with members of the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 election. That's a fact supported by numerous court cases, guilty verdicts, guilty pleas and the Mueller investigation. Was Trump personally involved? I don't know.

4. Donald Trump never said "Inject yourselves with bleach". He asked an open ended question about whether that might work to kill the corona virus or even, I believe, zapping "it" with light to kill it. However, his response to the pandemic at all levels starting with disbanding the White House pandemic prep center, was horrid.

5. Trump said there were "very fine people" on both sides of the statue issue. Nazis were in that group. He never condemned the Nazis and this would not even be an issue if he would have said... "There are very fine people on both sides of the issue, but Nazis are not among them. They are evil and do not represent what America stands for."

Now maybe you'll answer one of mine...

Why do openly racist people and white supremacy advocates feel comfortable with the GOP and not the Dems?

Dave Dubya said...

Trump gave cover for the alt-Right rally in Charlottesville, pretending it was all about a statue. "I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally–but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists."

No, they were ALL white nationalist racists who heeded the call of a well-known racist. It was like saying, "There were no racists at the Klan rally". It was specifically called "Unite the Right" and was organized by Proud Boy white supremacist Jason Kessler, and attended by not-very-fine-people.

When asked about the alt-Right, Trump refused to acknowledge it and deflected to the reporter, "But when you say the alt-right, define alt-right to me. You define it. Go ahead."

This is yet another deflection to cover for his racist base.

Wiki sums it up:

The Unite the Right rally was a white supremacist rally that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, from August 11 to 12, 2017. Marchers included members of the alt-right, neo-Confederates, neo-fascists, white nationalists, neo-Nazis, Klansmen, and far-right militias.

Some groups chanted racist and antisemitic slogans and carried weapons, Nazi and neo-Nazi symbols, the Valknut, Confederate battle flags, Deus vult crosses, flags, and other symbols of various past and present antisemitic and anti-Islamic groups. The organizers' stated goals included the unification of the American white nationalist movement and opposing the proposed removal of the statue of General Robert E. Lee from Charlottesville's former Lee Park.

Speaking in an interview on the morning of the rally, former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke called the protests "a turning point for the people of this country. We are determined to take our country back. We're going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That’s why we voted for Donald Trump, because he said he’s going to take our country back."

The neo-Nazi The Daily Stormer wrote of Trump's response, "He didn't attack us…. No condemnation at all. When asked to condemn, he just walked out of the room. Really, really good. God bless him."

And there you have it. "Very fine people" according to Trump and Vern.

Dave Dubya said...

Vern decided to disrespect my request that he answer my questions if we answered his.

Now he's howling about "BLM, commies and Marxists" and trying to deny the Unite the Right rally was organized and attended by known racists.

He gets quite defensive on their behalf. What does that say about Vern?

Dave Miller said...

Dave, as to your post graphic... here's a question I would have asked Trump at the debate.

Mr Trump, if after this debate, Mr Biden ordered his secret service to kill you, do you believe he should be prosecuted, or should he as president have the absolute immunity you have argued for before the SCOTUS and walk away a free man?

Dave Miller said...

Dave asked... "He gets quite defensive on their behalf. What does that say about Vern?"

Birds of a feather...

Dave Dubya said...

Yes, Dave.

I thought Biden should have told Trump, "If you're right about presidential immunity, I have the authority to have you shot at the end of this debate."

And yes, birds of a feather. Vern's sending his usual load of whiny BS, but he's not responding to my simple request for an answer.

He'll be in the time-out room for a while.

He's a typical Trumpist, emotionally and morally stunted and always crying when we don't give them the attention they demand.
