The woman who got over 2,860,000 more votes than the president presented an interesting hypothetical scenario to Rachel Maddow on how absurd
our election laws have become:
“Imagine,
Rachel, that you had one of the Democratic nominees for 2020 on your show and
that person said, ‘You know, the only other adversary of ours, who’s anywhere
near as good as the Russians, is China. So why should Russia have all the fun?
And since Russia is clearly backing Republicans, why don’t we ask China to back
us...China, if you’re listening, why don’t you get Trump’s tax returns? I’m
sure our media would richly reward you’...According to the Mueller Report that
is not conspiracy because it’s done right out in the open.”
Sorry,
Hil. This is only OK if you are a Republican. Don’t you know the "One Rule" by now?
As
if that isn’t depressing enough...
It’s
also OK if you are a Republican to advocate for torture, incarceration without
charges, and start wars of aggression based on lies.
"First
of all, I actually like Dick Cheney, for real. I get on with him. I think he's
a decent man." - Joe Biden
Ol'
Joe will pander to anyone. I'm sure he "actually likes" just about
everybody. In his defense, the context was Cheney cordially welcoming him to
the vice-presidency and Blair House. He went on to say he didn't agree with
him, so there's that sliver of decency.
But still, come on...
And
this:
Trump’s
private counsel and US Attorney General Barr stated, "The president does
not have to sit there constitutionally and allow it to run its course. The
president could terminate the proceeding and it would not be a corrupt intent
because he was being falsely accused."
IOKIYAR. The One Rule.
It’s
still morning, but for some reason I’d like a large pour of Scotch now.

Hence, just one reason I will not put my check next to Joe's name on the ballot.
JG,
Ol' Joe will pander to anyone. I'm sure he "actually likes" just about everybody. In his defense, the context was Cheney cordially welcoming him to the vice-presidency and Blair House. He went on to say he didn't agree with him, so there's that sliver of decency. I think he's conditioned to say nice things about Republicans. In the past it was sort of a tradition for senators to refer respectfully and politely to members of the opposing party. Too bad he's so stuck in the past.
At least he doesn't say the Big MAGAt is a decent guy. We all know who HE likes.

Contextual nuance makes a world of difference. Agreed.
Dave, what was the purpose of including this quote by ol' Joe? I see the connection to your previous paragraph, but thought it needed a lead-in No?
Anyway, the shit-train is accelerating faster and faster. Will the bridge be washed-out over the ravine?
Keep your ear to the rail. We're in for the ride of our lives.
JG,
I should add the context, but Biden annoys me with that crap.
"...Biden annoys me with that crap." ~~ Dave Dubya
Annoys me too, Dave. Let's hope he's just the jackrabbit and the other's name recognition catches up.
One over-the-hill old demented coot is enough. ;-)
Joe Biden's numbers are meteoric in latest polling. I question the sustainability of only name recognition in this grind to the nomination.
Biden is running purely on the premise of denying Trump a second term. That's it!... or should I really be saying, that's it?
Out of the fire, maybe...and back into the frying pan?
JG,
By now I'm kinda missing the frying pan. 5 out of 9 Supreme Court Justices are Federalist Society ideologues. If Trump wins, it would likely make a minimum of 6 of 9 on the Federalist Society Supreme Court.
They won their coup. Trump finished what the racist Republican Senate started when they violated out Constitution and refused to vote on Garland. They will succeed in shielding Trump too.
If Hillary had won, it would have meant 3 of 9 on the NOT Federalist Society Supreme Court. That is the glaring difference, and the consequences we have to live with.
More fascism = more corporatism = more fascism = more corporatism. USA!USA!
The Federalist Society Supreme Court.
They won. And they will win even more. Americans will allow them to finish their destruction of democracy. I can safely promise that.
So glad I'm old enough to enjoy my Social Security and Medicare... while it lasts. They'll take that too, you know.
The Party of Trump and the Federalist Society Supreme Court want it that way.
Who's gonna stop them?
Dave, I'm not old enough to enjoy Medicare yet and I'm hoping that it will out live me, but it's iffy at this time. I'm hoping that Medicare is not destroyed in the next 21/2 years. Keeping my fingers crossed. They want to destroy my current health care (ACA) through the courts now. They are a bunch of assh---s aren't they.
How do you know that Social Security and Medicare will be taken from you?
Clueless.
The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, most frequently called the Federalist Society, is an organization of conservatives and libertarians seeking reform of the current legal system of the United States in accordance with a textualist or originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution.
And believing in the original interpretation of the Constitution is going to take away your Social Security and Medicare and the destruction of democracy? How so dave.
Tim,
They are more than just assholes. They are evil assholes.
JTF,
Yes, you are clueless. Bush Jr. openly advocated for privatizing Social Security and the Trump Administration has betrayed his promise by wanting to cut Medicare.
You prove to be clueless in "believing in the original interpretation of the Constitution". Even the founders had disagreements in interpretation. There is no "original interpretation". It is why we have a Supreme Court.
The Federalist Society has THEIR interpretation, NOT the founders.
You are also clueless if you cannot see the Right's war on democracy and voter rights.
I am surprised you got this far in the thread. ;-)

I guess Fox News has been holding out on ol' Vern, wouldn't you say?
"I am surprised [ol' Vern] got this far in the thread." ~~ Dave Dubya
I'm not...
Funny story. Over at another blog I mentioned that Trump's deplorable base was functionally illiterate, along with being hateful, bigoted and supremely cultist.
The only portion he accused me of lying about was the "functionally illiterate" part.
Poor ol' Vern. LOL
JG,
How dare you insinuate that Vern's ability to regurgitate propaganda and copy-and-paste reflects anything but a mastery of the written language?
He's a man of letters as much as his Dear Leader is. The only difference is Vern can't afford to hire someone else to write a book for him.
Not fair! Censorship!
