I'm more than pretty sure that we don't know the entire
truth about what happened 15 years ago.
And again, cui bono?
The CIA created al-Qaeda in Soviet-occupied Afghanistan, who
got off the leash and turned on the US. The neocons, the MIC and Mossad all had
something to gain. Our own "axis of evil".
It seems the WTC buildings were rigged with thermite for the
inevitable attack that no one would stop. The Bush Cartel demonstrated it's
priorities by excluding terror adviser Richard Clarke from cabinet meetings.
And then came 9-11. We invaded Afghanistan.
And then torture, indefinite incarceration without charges,
and warrant-less mass surveillance became the norm.
70% of Americans were duped into believing Saddam was in
cahoots with al-Qaeda, Iraq was invaded under false pretenses, and the neocons' dream war quickly spawned ISIS.
Now we face the prospect of President Hillary, or President
Trump, proclaiming "To the victor go the spoils", urging us back into
Iraq to take "our oil".
Rudy the 9-11 guy, wanting to help Benedict Donald rule our country agrees, "Until the war is over, anything is legal."

Mein Drumpf assures us, "I’m really good at war. I love
war in a certain way, but only when we win."
"Heil, Drumpf!" USA! USA! USA!
"Heil, Drumpf!" USA! USA! USA!
What a spectacular final chapter to our nation's history.

We have become our ancestors. Long live war and colonial rule.
I've maintained for quite awhile that the next declared president will be "the closer". Those familiar with baseball parlance will understand immediately what I mean.
We're in for the defining moment of our lives -- individually and collectively as a nation. I'm pessimistic as to whether we have what it takes to weather the storm and come through it whole and better than before. The odds are against us, and unlike other crisis periods in our history there doesn't seem to be that pivotal leader on the horizon to steer us clear of the hazards. Maybe that person's with us, but I'm not so sure. If he or she is, we've been denied this person's guidance and wisdom.
All empires in history have come to infamous and mostly self-destructive ends. The difference with this one is it will probably take all of humanity and most other living things with it. A once popular saying that's apropos, immortalized by the great Porky Pig, says it all. "Th-th-th that's all folks!"
I would like to say we are at the point in history to witness the collapse of neo-liberal global corporatist empire, but that's not happening. What's collapsing is our democratic representative republic.
The toxic combination of greed and lust for power, facilitated by extreme far Right authoritarian leaders and their followers has done us in. And they couldn't have done it if it were not for the American public's apathy, indifference, and the decisions of ignorant and misinformed voters. They re-elected a war criminal Administration...twice, not that we had a choice after Bush destroyed all hope for a prosperous and peaceful future.
We no longer have democratic representation, nor effective leaders, in government. They are the puppets in service to our real "leaders".
No matter who did it, 9-11 signaled the end of our democratic republic. Freedom was sacrificed on the alter of false security. Permanent war has become the new American way.
The neo-cons' "New American Century" is here, and it aint pretty.
