This Just In!

Yipee! Time to debunk and return another hateful right wing forward! This one really fulfills the prophetic quote attributed to Sinclair Lewis, "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross."

****

Subject: Fw: Obama's real religion

86% of our country (Christians) will/should be offended

Just another reminder - This is chilling... In 1952 President Truman established one day a year as a National Day of Prayer."

In 1988 President Reagan designated the First Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer.

In June 2007 (then) Presidential Candidate Barack Obama declared the USA was no longer a Christian nation.

This year Obama canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the ruse of "Not wanting to offend anyone"

On September 25, 2009 from 4 am until 7 PM, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was Held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. There were over 50,000 Muslims that day in D.C.

(Photo)

HE PRAYS WITH THE MUSLIMS! I guess it Doesn't matter if "Christians" are offended by this event - we obviously don't count as "anyone" anymore. The direction this country is headed should strike fear in the heart of every Christian, especially since the Muslim religion believes that if Christians cannot be converted, they should be annihilated. This is not a rumor - Go to the website to confirm this info: (
http://www.islamoncapitolhill.com/ )
Pay particular attention to the very bottom of the page: "OUR TIME HAS COME"

The words of 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, Who are called by my Name, Will humble themselves And pray, And seek my face, and Turn from their Wicked ways, Then will I hear from Heaven And will forgive their Sin and will heal Their land."
We must pray for our nation, our communities, our families, and especially our children. They are the ones who are going to suffer the most. If we don't, May God have Mercy.
Maybe someone, somehow can figure out a way to put America back on the map as it was when we were growing up, a safe place to live by The Ten Commandments and Pledge of Allegiance.

For Obama to continue as our president is a SLAP IN THE FACE TO OUR FOUNDING FATHERS and DISGUSTING TO EVERY RED-BLOODED AMERICAN.

I hope this information will stir your spirit.

Thanks. It’s always enlightening to hear from the Christo-fascist Americans.

I guess they think Obama the “Foreign born Muslim/Marxist/Socialist/Communist” is turning us into a Muslim nation.

And I missed that part of the Constitution that said we are a Christian nation.

I must have been distracted by that “no religious test shall be required” nonsense.

I’ve always suspected those founders were liberals secretly trying to bring about “change”.

Just who are these “Christians” anyway?

Mostly I hear a lot of bitching about “rendering unto Caesar” by the wealthy and greedy servants of Mammon. (AKA the Republican Party) They HATE paying Constitutional taxation so much they ignore what Jesus said about paying taxes.

Can’t say I’ve seen much “Christian” love of their fellow man, though. The Republicans’ contempt for the poor and unemployed is more than clear.

Let’s look at some of that conservative Christo-fascist “compassion” as they cut off unemployment benefits for laid off Americans.

SHARRON ANGLE, NEVADA SENATE CANDIDATE: That‘s what‘s happened to us, is that we have put in so much entitlement into our government that we really have spoiled our citizenry and said, you don‘t want the jobs that are available.

SEN. JON KYL, ARIZONA: That doesn‘t create new jobs. In fact, if anything, continuing to pay people unemployment compensation is a disincentive for them to seek new work.

EN. ORRIN HATCH, UTAH: You know, we should not be giving cash to people who basically are just going to blow it on drugs.

LT. GOV. ANDRE BAUER, SOUTH CAROLINA: My grandmother was not a highly educated woman but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because of they breed. You‘re facilitating the problem. If you give an animal or person ample food supply, they will reproduce, especially ones that don‘t think too of further than that. And so, what you got to do is you got to curtail that type of behavior. They don‘t know any better.

Never mind the unemployed, after all, the point is that these “Christians” really “will/should be offended”.

This matters very much in setting them up for an emotional reaction. Their mission is to spread fear, hatred and anger. These are not real Christians. My Mother was a real Christian. The Amish are real Christians. Compared to them, I’m a real Christian.

Real Christians do not make it their mission to incite fear, hatred and anger. Real Christians at least try to follow Christ’s example of love and compassion.

Christo-fascists have a radical right, anti-democracy political agenda. They want those servants of Mammon to run our government.

Christo-fascists thrive when they bring out the worst in people. As they said, “This is chilling.”

Anger is easy to instill into folks who are convinced their religious beliefs are threatened.

And what better way to accomplish this than to accuse Obama as the attacker of their faith when he, “declared the USA was no longer a Christian nation”?

Never mind that he never said that. He also never “canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony”. It wasn’t scheduled. That’s ok, factual details and honesty are not required.

Like this: “National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was Held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House.” Capitol Hill is not “beside the White House". They are well over a mile apart. See what I mean?

Back to the mission at hand, the Christo-fascist turns up the heat and stirs in the fear. “The direction this country is headed should strike fear in the heart of every Christian, especially since the Muslim religion believes that if Christians cannot be converted, they should be annihilated.”

Who wouldn’t fear “that they should be annihilated”? What’s that? You’re NOT afraid to be annihilated? Well, what about the children, you fool? We must pray for our nation, our communities, our families, and especially our children. They are the ones who are going to suffer the most.

Got that? You’d better be afraid, and also be very angry at Obama now. I think he wants to annihilate our children.

To confirm the fear the Christo-fascist gives a link to a scary sounding site about Islam on Capitol Hill. Needless to say there is no such confirmation, just a dire sounding phrase “Our Time Has Come” under their title.

Once more, let’s get back to anger. “For Obama to continue as our president is a SLAP IN THE FACE TO OUR FOUNDING FATHERS and DISGUSTING TO EVERY RED-BLOODED AMERICAN.”

Unlike his predecessor, Obama was constitutionally elected by a clear majority of voters. Isn’t it comforting to know the founders have changed their minds, and now share the Republicans’ disdain for democracy? Although I am a bit saddened to learn EVERY red-blooded American is disgusted to see Obama continue as president. Oh, what to do, what to do? Could this be a call for “Second Amendment remedies” suggested by the fascist lady running for Harry Reid’s Senate seat?

The photo with the caption “He prays with Muslims” is more proof that Christo-fascists don’t particularly care much about honesty.

They say he “prays with Muslims” by showing a picture of Obama taking his shoes off at what they dishonestly suggest is a Muslim “national day of prayer” by the White House.

Nope. That was a photo of Obama touring a mosque during a state visit in Turkey.

Never mind even their “Christian” GWB took his shoes off according to protocol when he visited a mosque.

“Stir your spirit” must be their new code for “stir your hatred for Obama”.

By the time we get to “In God We Trust”, just so you know whose side you’re on, the Christo-fascist’s purpose is fulfilled. His mission to incite hatred and anger against Obama and fear towards our democratically elected president is accomplished.

I don’t suppose this article from the Christian Science Monitor would be within the realm of consideration by our radical right Christo-fascist element.

Some excerpts:

National Day of Prayer is on, despite court ruling
By Linda Feldmann posted May 6, 2010

President Obama has issued a National Day of Prayer proclamation but will not hold an interfaith observance at the White House, as President Bush did. The administration is appealing a ruling last month that the official day of prayer is unconstitutional.

“Thursday, May 6, is the National Day of Prayer, as proclaimed by President Obama. But this year, the annual ritual that began in 1952 is taking place amid controversy.

Last month, a federal judge in Wisconsin ruled that the US law directing the president to proclaim such a day violates the First Amendment, which prohibits government establishment of religion. US District Judge Barbara Crabb also said it was OK to proceed with the National Day of Prayer, pending appeals.

On April 22, the Obama administration appealed Judge Crabb’s ruling to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago.

But, like last year, Mr. Obama himself will not hold any official prayer day observance at the White House. His predecessor, George W. Bush, had held an annual interfaith observance in the East Room of the White House.

Last year, when Obama decided to limit the White House’s involvement to a proclamation, an urban legend was born: Obama had
“canceled” the National Day of Prayer. Not so, the White House said. The myth-busting website Snopes.com has a page devoted to the topic. It’s not that the White House is opposed to prayer, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said last year. “Prayer is something that the president does every day,” he added, noting that it is private. ...”

So to all the Christo-fascists who will never read this far:

Have a blessed day!

Dave, what an excellent Freedom Rant, one of your best!

It was not Obama who declared that the US is not a Christian nation. It was our founding fathers. The Treaty of Tripoli (1797) said exactly that. It was ratified by the Senate, mostly comprised of fdounding fathers at that time, unanimously.

I like the part where Orrin Hatch calls for drug testing of all unemployment insurance recipients. Not only will this cost money, but they'd probably have to set up a new government agency to take care of it.

Lew, I'm sure that this drug testing will be managed by a private corporation.

And of course a recipient will have to pay a fee to get tested, before receiving benefits.

Very good post. I especially like the complete debunking at the end. That kind of thing needs to be done more by the MSM, but of course they're oh so careful to be balanced. And if that takes balancing truth with BS, so be it.

Re: the Crabb decision. I'm strong for separation of church and state, but don't buy it that a president simply designating a day of prayer violates that separation. It doesn't specify a particular faith or prayer and isn't binding on anyone who chooses not to pray. Nor should it make anyone feel discriminated against in any way.

OTOH, ruling against such a benign practice needlessly offends some people of faith, and gives zealots and crackpots what they feel is evidence of being persecuted (as if), so they can demand not-so-benign practices.

I just don't see what good is accomplished from what amounts to pettiness.

And Christians were treated better under Sharia than Muslims were under the Crusaders.

Hatch would probably prefer to simply send the unemployed out for a good old-fashioned stoning. Hatch needs to be unemployed, for the good of our country.

I'm sure Hatch would waive the drug test if the unemployed would undergo Mormon indoctrination.

You're going to Hell for that, you know. ;-) At least you'll be in good company.

SW,
As we know all too well, corporate media cares little for the truth. If a Republican said the sky was yellow and a Democrat said it was blue, the media would say the sky must be somewhere in between. Yes, the sky is green.

It would have been far better for this "Day of Prayer" to never have happened. While it is debatable whether it's constitutional, it is a symptom of that slippery slope.

Anon,
We've never needed the words of Henry Wallace more than we do now. FDR's VP had a very clear picture of the threat of fascism.

Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection." - Vice President Wallace, The New York Times 4/9/44.

Call me a glutton for punishment. I finished your post.

Do you honestly believe that your incendiary twisting of facts and omission of details are somehow more superior than the “ramblings of the radical right”?

Marginalization and alienation have long been tactics used against religion, whether it comes from the ‘crazy right’ against Muslims or from ‘Delusional Dave’ against Christians.

You’re a stickler for numbers when it serves your purpose. It’s not the Constitution that identifies us as a Christian nation; it’s the fact that around 80% of Americans identify themselves as Christians that qualifies us as a Christian nation. The very same logic you applied in your declaration that Obama was elected by a majority.

How is ‘your world’ less extreme?

You stated, “Let’s look at some of that conservative Christo-fascist “compassion” as they cut off unemployment benefits for laid off Americans”

How many times should unemployment be extended, and where do the funds come from? Since you seem the type that clings to the pretty passages and ignores the remainder:

2 Thessalonians 3:7 & 10 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you. For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

You’ve moved so far off-base you’re not even on the playing field any longer, Dave.

Dave Dubya said...

Dan,
Good to see you again. Some consider me a glutton for punishment, too. Those hateful chain emails are emotionally charged and can be draining on one’s patience and kindly disposition. Please feel free to straighten out any facts I may have twisted or details I may have omitted. I value honesty and accuracy of information.

It would seem to me a group that claims to be 86% of the population would be very difficult to marginalize and alienate. Right wingers, on the other hand, have the tendency to find scapegoats to blame for their long list of grievances. Liberals, Socialists (real, or more likely imagined) and minorities have been demonized, and marginalized and alienated by the radical Right for decades. We are the ones who have been accused of not being “real Americans”, and who want to “destroy America”. Limbaugh and Fox and their fellow right wing Republicans hammer that propaganda incessantly. Protestations of victimhood from a vast majority ring very hallow, and are often used to incite hatred and anger against the people they dislike. Fortunately most Christians are not the sort that write these pieces and angrily urge others to share in their hatred. I thought I was clear about the differences between real Christians and what I call Christo-fascists.

No, I’m really not marginalizing real Christians at all; just hateful right wing bigots who want people to believe they are Christians.

You should realize the flaw in your belief that 80% means we are a Christian nation. So if 80% of Americans were white, would we proudly say that qualifies us as a “white nation”? That would be rather racist, wouldn’t it? Are non-Christians Americans, or not? Bigotry and divisiveness should not replace the founders’ vision of the unity and individuality of E Pluribus Unum. Our Constitution is what defines our nation.

Since Obama had more votes than McCain, does that make us an Obama nation? No, of course not, but I bet you liked me putting those words together. ;-)

Unemployment benefits should be extended as long as possible. People need to eat and money needs to be circulated in these times of economic constriction. Those unemployment benefits your GOP hate are exactly what would help both those in need and the businesses the unemployed owe or need for goods and services.

Your Thessalonians quote is relevant only if you are blaming the unemployed for losing their jobs and are unwilling to work. That sounds very much like you and the GOP are marginalizing a group of people in need.

Republicans’ contempt for the unemployed is more than clear. They didn’t care too much about offsets for tax breaks for the rich, did they? That aspect of the deficit is money in their pockets. Where’d the money come from to offset that? I guess that part is unimportant to the Greedy Oily Party. Also money kept by the Rich is usually not circulated, but invested or otherwise kept out of circulation.

Unemployment money benefits families and the economy in general when spent. Even those economic elites who dumped their tax burden on the rest of us get some “trickle up” money as well.

It seems those economic elites would prefer that only the well off should benefit from our deficit. Along with most compassionate people, I like a win/win better.

I hope this clears up some things a bit. Thanks for your input.

Dan wrote: ". . . it’s the fact that around 80% of Americans identify themselves as Christians that qualifies us as a Christian nation."

I imagine you know very well that when politically motivated fundamentalist/evangelical Christians stridently say ours is a Christian nation, they're not talking percentages. They're talking what they perceive as first rights and about dominance. Think "Animal Farm," where all pigs were equal, but some pigs were more equal than others.

I doubt that 80 percent stat is up to date. But in any case what distinguishes the U.S. is that it's a country where all are free to follow their conscience about whether to believe and what to believe, without direction or interference from the government or any person or group.

The other thing is that the U.S. is a place where our founding law ensures government is neither to meddle in religion or be meddled with by the religious. That two-way noninterference guarantee is a key reason the country survived and prospered when so many others experienced horrific religious strife.

Is America a Christian country? No, it's a free country with a high percentage of Christian citizens. That's a distinction with a difference.

Dave Dubya said...

SW,
Thanks for the clear distinction. Otherwise we'd have to ask, are we a Catholic nation? Or are we a Protestant nation? Are we a Morman nation or a Baptist nation?

At any rate that seems to deflect our discussion from whether we are a democracy or a corporatocracy.

Dan said...

Dave, how is the Thessalonians quote only relevant if I blame the unemployed for losing their jobs? No one said anything about how anyone became unemployed. I’m simply asking how long benefits should be extended and where the money might come from? Obama’s policies have already spent us into oblivion, and if you believe the money can be recouped from those making more than 250K/yr you’re far more naïve than I thought. The ‘no taxes’ on those making less than 250K/yr is a ruse. 2011 ought to be a real wake up call for the believers.

Where do you get the concept that the “Rich” don’t circulate their money? Small businesses don’t invest in communities, hire the unemployed, and buy goods from other companies? You’re anti-corporatism is terminal.

Why are the Republicans referred to as the ‘big oil party’….big oil is lining the pockets of plenty of democrats. The Obama presidential campaign sucked up several dollars from the ‘big nasty BP’, not withstanding the oil money contributed while he served as Senator.

S.W., if the surface of a land mass is 80% covered by trees is it not accurate to refer to it as a forested region? By doing so is not to say that the sandy portion should forever long to be tree covered, nor is it inferior. I have no problem saying Afghanistan is a Muslim country.

Dan,
I take it you have no suggestions to straighten out any facts I may have twisted or details I may have omitted.

It appeared to me that you were quoting 2 Thessalonians as something supporting the Republicans’ statements. What was your intention?

Unemployment compensation will not spend us into oblivion. Bush’s six trillion dollar credit card spending certainly helped, but it seems you’d rather blame it all on Obama.

You do understand that unemployment money, all of it, is fed directly back into the economy, right? It was in the context of that money, in contrast to tax breaks for the wealthy, where I should have said, (tax break) money kept by the rich is usually not circulated, but invested or otherwise kept out of circulation. I did not say “the “Rich” don’t circulate their money”. I said “money kept by the rich”. Please don’t misquote me or put words in my mouth.

You’re right about Democrats taking big oil money, but at least they are not taking the money and APOLOGIZING to BP like certain Republicans have been doing. It is simple reality that Bush and Cheney were the two most oil money-soaked politicians ever to hold such power in the US.

So are we to assume you believe the US is a “white nation” then?

Anon,
Maybe Adolph had a Republican writing for him. Before the war he did have a lot of Republican supporters over here who hated FDR.

Dan said...

Dave, you can ‘take it that I have no suggestions to straighten out any facts you have twisted or details you have omitted’, if you like, but assumptions are easily made and pretty par for the course when it comes to hard-left. I.E. If a conservative opposes Affirmative Action there can be no other conclusion than he/she is a racist and a bigot. Why dig any deeper, fits the stereotype and inflicts maximum character damage. Another example is your most recent post regarding the billboard in Iowa, certainly a detestable representation, and if you left it at that it could be taken at face value, but you go on to say ‘I don’t recall any billboards of Bush that remotely approached this kind of hysteria’. Perhaps you just have selective memory issues. Check out

http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/?p=621

Factually correct, these wingnuts haven’t posted on billboards, but signs carried that call for assignation, ‘bomb his f’ing house, ‘Bush is the disease, death is the cure’, etc. are about as hysterical, insightful, and reprehensible as it gets. In my view, clinging to free speech doesn’t cut it here. If you call for assassination and depict decapitation of a sitting president you’ve crossed into criminality.

You’ve lost me, Dave, money kept by anyone is not spent…hence the word kept.

Certainly unemployment alone is not going to bankrupt this country. Bush was not blameless when it came to fiscal irresponsibility, but the term ‘Tax & Spend Democrats’ wasn’t drawn out of thin air. Our deficit is now at 10% of GDP, unsustainable by any stretch…..I know we’re only cleaning up Bush’s messes, and look at all of the ‘jobs created or saved’, thank God for that stimulus money. Oops, reference to God…still clinging to my guns and faith.

Dave Dubya said...

Dan, Thanks for the link. The blogger fairly asserts threats from either side should be taken seriously. And yes there were plenty of leftists who stupidly wrote “threatening” messages at protest demonstrations. Note that one of them had the sense to write “my opinion” on his signs.

Although those placards stating Bush was a war criminal and should be punished as such were simply not threats at all. If someone said the same of Obama; I would support his right to do so.

Call it selective memory about the billboard, but it is true. And the difference is this. That billboard was sponsored by a group of people supported by Republicans and Fox. Remember the “Fox Tea Party” ads with all their personalities eagerly promoting and attending them?

Zombie takes his point to where I have real differences with him. He correctly states and refers to a report that Obama has had far more threats against him than Bush did. But his old “liberal media” explanation falls flat, though. First of all, “liberal media” itself is a right wing manufactured talking point. Corporate media is the far more accurate term.

There is no left leaning equivalent of Fox or right wing talk radio. Don’t suggest PBS either. Bill Moyers was one of very few truly liberal perspectives, and he is no longer there. PBS has been defunded and relies on corporate advertising now. PBS plans on showing a biography of Reagan’s Secretary of State George Schultz.

The special, Turmoil and Triumph, was funded by the Stephen Bechtel Fund and Charles Schwab. Shultz was a board member at both companies, and was president of the Bechtel Corporation from 1975 to 1982. The conflict of interest is as clear as was the case of Supreme Court justices deciding for Bush’s presidency with their own family members jobs at stake.

Zombie’s claim of “liberal media” reporting those increased threats fails to account for the Fox /talk radio media telling its listeners Obama is a Marxist who wants to destroy America. This is pure hate mongering by Big Money and right wing interests. Nothing like that existed during Bush’s war propaganda period. In fact, dissent was often regarded by the Right as treason.

Maybe as you say, “If you call for assassination and depict decapitation of a sitting president you’ve crossed into criminality”. Or maybe not, I’m sure the Secret Service closely scrutinizes where free speech crosses the line into crime.

And yes, “the term ‘Tax & Spend Democrats’ wasn’t drawn out of thin air”. It is another Republican talking point. Nobody spent more, and dug us into greater deficit with unfunded tax breaks for the rich than George W. Bush. Just as under Herbert Hoover, unchecked Republican rule lead us into depression and record unemployment.

Thank you for mentioning the stimulus money. In fact, I DO look at the jobs and effects of stimulus money every day. That’s how my road finally got repaved. It’s very nice to see some “tax and spend” money working for the public for a change, instead of just Halliburton and Blackwater.

Now come on. I said nothing relevant to your point “If a conservative opposes Affirmative Action there can be no other conclusion than he/she is a racist and a bigot.” That would be your own characterization of an assumption, not my position.

By all means, cling to your guns and faith. Just keep them out of my face please. I’m one of those “Second Amendment” liberals who grew up in the woods. ;-)

Weaseldog said...

Dan you've made some good points.

It's clear that we're a Roman Catholic Nation. No other church in the USA comes even close to them in membership. Our laws and system of governance should then be decided by the Pope in Rome. After all, the Pope is the spiritual leader of our nation. Or should I say, the Pope is the spiritual leader of the nation he owns, the United States of America. the Roman Catholic Church once ruled Europe after restructuring from ruling the known world and falling from grace. They have a great deal of experience in ruling nations and imposing religious law. A law mandating confessions and severe penalties for lying to God, might be a good thing for the USA.

I like the way you characterizes Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Blackwater, Halliburton and other corporations that have enjoyed mountains of free money in giveaways by Republicans and Democrats as 'small businesses'.

I'm not sure what a big business is at this point. Perhaps only McDonald's qualifies? As far as i know, Bush and Obama haven't bailed them out yet. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they were enjoying some Cost Plus contracting in our giant embassy city in Iraq.

As far as any Bush versus Obama debate. I'm not taking sides. They are the same as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't engaged in a lot of hot airport sex together. That's what Washington politicians seem to be into. And though Muslims are forbidden to engage in homosexuality, it's considered permissible to for men and boys to do it, in some Arabian cultures. As Bush was raised much of his life by Arabs, it's possible that he was brought up in this tradition by his many Muslim uncles.

Dave is wrong. Real Christians are marginalized. Real Christians do their best to follow in the teachings of Christ. This means that they try hard to love even their enemies. They abstain from violence and the promotion of violence. A real Christian following the path of Jesus would not join the military. After all, it was the military that nailed Jesus to the cross. Jesus preached non-violence every day. A real Christian would not seek money as an end nor covet money. After all, Jesus preached that poverty is a virtue, and that giving is better than receiving. Nor would a real Christian whine about rendering unto Caesar.

Yes, Real Christians are marginalized, by the fake flag waving, money worshiping and bloodthirsty Mammonites that claim to be Christians.

But Real Christians are a minority. Easily 80% of Americans worship Mammon while using the name of Jesus to promote war and injustice.

Dan, you're obviously a Mammonite pretending to be a Christian. you know what I'm talking about.

Dave Dubya said...

Wease,
It would not be an unreasonable assumption to say if Jesus or someone like him were to have publicly preached his message during the rush to war in Iraq, he would have been called a traitor and sent to Gitmo.

Jesus was downright un-American.

Dan said...

Dave, let me apologize for highjacking your post, but out of context it wouldn't make much sense...Lord knows there's plenty of that going on.

Weaseldog,

Is that a pet name given by your mother? Just curious.

I’m left to wonder if it’s ignorance and/or presumption that bring you to the conclusion I’m a Mammonite pretending to be a Christian.
No one said anything about religious leaders running a country. When did you decide to insert that religious values should be imposed upon the government? That right, you’re crazy spin on things looses all credibility unless you connect the two. We must fear the instability of all people holding religious based values—that’s the mantra, right?

I’d like to hear your biblically based reasoning for a real Christian not joining the military. Did God not order the Israelites to go to war with other nations? I guess Joshua, David, Gideon, and Samson (all warriors) are burning in hell right now.

You’re welcome to your narrow pacifist view, but don’t claim it’s biblical.

Dave Dubya said...

Dan,
Wease is more than able toexplain himself, but I just want to add this.

It's a complex context we have. Christians, and others, are allowed exemption from combat if they say it is against their faith to kill. (Where'd that idea come from?) and there are churches that do not condone members going to war. And then we have very wealthy war-mongering leaders who pretend to be Christian in order to gain votes and power. Theirs is the greater evil and it is clear, "by their fruits" what they truly worship.

Tim said...
